Each culture has its own symbols and meanings. It’s important for other cultures to understand and respect the symbolism of objects. The tri-cultural rug combines the symbols of three cultures: Iran, China, and North America. The two rugs are counterpoised such that one (top) shows cultural appreciation, where the symbols and rules on the rug of three cultures are followed and respected. And the other shows cultural misappropriation (bottom), where the rules are not followed and symbolism is disrespected.
